- Situer dans une image : in the foreground, in the background
- Le présent simple : affirmatif, négatif, interrogatif
- Le présent be + -ing : He is wearing… (reconnaître)
- Comparer : longer than, as sporty as, the best

Décrire le physique et le caractère
Physique : slim (mince), huge (énorme), features (traits du visage). Caractère : proud (fier), smart (intelligent, élégant), generous (généreux), honest (honnête), friendly (amical), polite (poli), cheery (jovial). Pour A2 : skinny (maigre), tiny (minuscule), rude (impoli), enthusiastic (enthousiaste).
Exemple
My best friend is slim and friendly. She is very generous.
À retenir : Un adjectif se place avant le nom (a friendly girl) ou après be (she is friendly).
Vocabulaire du portrait et de l’art
portrait (portrait), painter (peintre), photographer (photographe), picture (image, tableau), illustration (illustration), author (auteur), writer (écrivain), dark (sombre), bright (lumineux, vif), to represent (représenter), to admire (admirer).
Exemple
The painter shows a young girl in a bright dress.
in the foreground (au premier plan), in the background (à l’arrière-plan), at the top (en haut), at the bottom (en bas), on the right (à droite), on the left (à gauche).
Exemple
In the foreground, there is a boy. In the background, there is a house.
À retenir : foreground = premier plan ; background = arrière-plan.
Le présent simple
Affirmatif : she plays. Négatif : she doesn’t play (does not + verbe sans -s). Question : Does she play? Avec I, you, we, they : don’t / do. Le -s se met seulement à he / she / it.
Exemple
My brother doesn’t like portraits. Does your sister paint?
À retenir : Dans does / doesn’t / do / don’t, le verbe reste à la forme de base.
Le présent be + -ing (à reconnaître)
They are walking to school (Ils marchent vers l’école).
Exemple
On the photo, Sam is wearing a blue uniform and he is smiling.
À retenir : is / are + verbe-ing = ce qu’on voit en ce moment sur l’image.
Comparer
Adjectif court : adjectif + -er than (tall → taller than ; big → bigger than). Adjectif long : more + adjectif + than (more famous than). Égalité : as + adjectif + as (as sporty as). Le meilleur : the best (good → the best).
Exemple
Tom is taller than Sam. Mia is as sporty as Leo. This is the best picture.
À retenir : -er than ; more … than ; as … as ; the best.
Donner son opinion
Pour dire ce qu’on pense : I think… (je pense), I believe… (je crois), For me,… (pour moi), In my opinion,… (à mon avis).
Exemple
For me, this portrait is beautiful. In my opinion, the colours are too dark.
À retenir : On dit For me (et pas For I).
Exemple
The National Portrait Gallery is next to Trafalgar Square, in the centre of London.
